September 2016 Birchbox Review

Wow, the end of September. It’s hard to believe that it’s already here, but it’s time for my monthly review of my Birchbox. This month the box was great! I have to say that I have a hard time finding face washes that I like, but this month they managed to send me 2 that I love, which is amazing! Anyway, on to the reviews.

Erno Laszlo Detoxifying Double Cleanse Travel Set

Erno Laszlo Detoxifying Double Cleanse Travel Set – $28.00 – I can’t express how much I love this set! The oil doesn’t really feel like oil at all, and this set doesn’t make my face feel oil or dry. It just makes my face feel clean and I could see a noticeable difference in the way my face looked and felt over time. I would consider purchasing this as it really works! My sample is valued at $7.56.

Beauty Protector Protect & Blonde Toning Shampoo

Beauty Protector Protect & Blonde Toning Shampoo – $23.00 – This shampoo is supposed to be great for blonde hair, and while that may be true, it’s not really good for your fingers. It had a great smell and texture, but it had a crazy color! It was a dark purple, and while it was a pretty color, it turned my fingernails purple, which didn’t look good at all. I was only able to use this for a couple of days because of the sample size, but I would be afraid that using it every day would result in purple hair. My other complaint is that this shampoo was so thick, it didn’t really come out of the bottle very well. My sample is valued at $8.62.

TokyoMilk Dark Pretty Rotten Eau de Parfum

TokyoMilk Dark Pretty Rotten Eau de Parfum – $42.00 – This perfume had a good smell. It wasn’t so floral and smelled more like apples, which I actually liked. It also lasted all day long, which was great too. I prefer this kind of scent over the more floral scents, so I was glad to get this one. However, even though I liked the smell, I can’t say that I would spend that kind of money on a perfume. My sample was valued at $1.26.

Milk Makeup Ubame Mascara

Milk Makeup Ubame Mascara – $24.00 – I was intrigued when I first saw this applicator, but when I used it I wasn’t impressed at all. The mascara itself is actually pretty good, and the packaging is interesting, but the applicator makes no sense to me. I had to go over my lashes several times to get all of them with this applicator. Not something I would spend my money on as I don’t really see the point. My sample was valued at $12.96.

Balance Me Radiance Face Mask

Balance Me Radiance Face Mask – $34.00 – Even though this is a mask, I didn’t really notice a difference when I used it as a mask versus just using it as a face wash. I do like it as a face wash though as it has a great exfoliating effect. I would buy this one in the future as I did notice a big difference in my pores and blackheads after using this a few days. My sample was valued at $6.80.

All in all this month my Birchbox was well worth it. I will actually use all the products that were sent to me, if they are already not gone. This month I also had a couple of exclusive items (the Balance Me face mask and the blonde toning shampoo). Also, most of my products were valued at over $5, which makes it even more worth it.

This month my box was valued at $37.20, plus the 50 points that I received for reviewing each product which is another $5. So in total my box this month was valued at $42.20, and I only paid $9.17 for it! WOW! That’s 78% off! How amazing is that? Here’s the breakdown for all my boxes so far this year:

  • July 2016
    • Total box worth: $30.69
    • Paid for box: $9.17
    • Percent off: 70%
  • August 2016
    • Total box worth: $21.65
    • Paid for box: $9.17
    • Percent off: 58%
  • September 2016
    • Total Box Worth: 42.20
    • Paid for box: $9.17
    • Percent off: 78%
  • Totals for the year so far
    • Total box worth: $94.54
    • Total paid (yearly subscription): $110

I really can’t believe how much I have already saved this year in products, and how many points I have to spend. Looks like I might just have to get those face washes I said I would love to get!

Have you signed up for Birchbox? Do you think you will? If you have what was your favorite product this month?

Thanks for reading, Cassie
