Organizing Baby Clothes

Babies go through clothes quick. Within the first year you will completely switch out your new baby’s clothes at least 4 times as she grows. This will lead to a lot of clothes that you have to do something with.

There are several ways you can deal with this overabundance of clothing.

You can sell them at a garage sale, you can give them away, or you can save them for the next child. Each of these are great ideas, but there is a flaw with each one, you have to find a way to store the clothes.

Roughly every 3 months you will be changing your baby’s wardrobe, so unless you want to have a garage sale every 3 months, you know someone who has a baby just a little younger than yours, or you want to give away your clothes to goodwill, you need to figure out how to store the clothes.

I don’t know about you, but for me the last option is what I decided to go with for now, saving the clothes for my next child. I spent a lot of money on clothes and blankets for my daughter and I don’t want to have to start all over the next time.

I also want to make sure that those clothes stay decent enough for my next child as well. I don’t know when I plan on having another child, and currently I have organized my baby clothes in my basement, which has had water issues in the past. I needed a way to store and organize my baby clothes so that they wouldn’t be damaged should my basement flood again.

Lastly, I wanted to be able to save the clothes without the clothes overtaking my basement. I am not joking when I say that my daughter has a ton of clothes!

All the baby clothes I had from newborn to 9 months, burp cloths, bibs, receiving blankets, and boppy covers. They covered my queen sized bed.

I needed a way to store all of these in as little space as possible. That is when I discovered Ziploc Space Bags. They come in all different sizes and they work amazingly well. I had a couple of totes that all these clothes were in, but by the time I was finished this all fit into one tote. I saved half the space!

I was able to organize the clothes based on size, so I can take them out as I need them for the next child.

This is what it all looked like when I was done. Imagine I had 2 totes full of clothes before the Ziploc Space Bags.

The good thing is that you can use these space bags for almost anything. I have used them for blankets and when I store my off season clothing. The bags come in many different sizes as well.

Just so you can compare the before and after.

Have you ever used Ziploc Space Bags? What do you think of them? Do you plan to use them to organize your baby clothes? What else will you use them for?

I was in no way compensated for this post. All opinions are my own and from my own experiences.
