It’s hard to believe that it’s the end of August already and time again for my month BirchBox review. July marked a year that I have been receiving my BirchBox and I decided to do something a little different to mark my second year. I am going to figure out exactly how much each of my samples are worth so you can see just what each box is worth.
Manna Kadar Cosmetics Day-Dream Palette – $25.00 – My sample included 2 colors of eyeshadow, and thankfully they are 2 colors that I use the most. I have to say that I really loved how this eyeshadow went on. I didn’t have any issues with smearing or flaking which was nice. It also wasn’t overly glittery. I hate when I get an eyeshadow that is full of glitter because hello, I am an adult, not a teenager experimenting with makeup. I can’t really give an opinion on the contour, blush, and highlighters though as I didn’t receive them. Anyway, I really did enjoy this one. My sample for this one comes in at a cost of about $5.00.
Avène Micellar Lotion – $20.00 – I have been skeptical about these Micellar Water products. I have tried them in the past and felt as if I was doing nothing but putting water on my face. This one is a little different, it actually makes me feel like I am cleaning my face, but I don’t really like how it makes my skin feel if I don’t rinse it off. Because of that I still rinse it off my face, but it does leave my face feeling soft and clean, however, I can achieve this with my current face wash and lotion routine. My sample is valued at $2.39.
Klorane Shampoo with Chamomile – For Blonde Hair – $15.00 – This is something that I could actually purchase and use. Unfortunately my sample was only big enough for me to use about 1.5 times, so I have no idea how my hair would react if I used it on a daily basis, but because it’s actually an affordable price I would be willing to give it a try. It also has a great smell! My sample for this one is valued at $1.87.
Klorane Conditioner with Chamomile – For Blonde Hair – $20.00 – Again, this is actually an affordable hair care product that I would be willing to try. It has a great smell that makes me think of summer. I only received enough to use it once, so I am not sure how my hair would feel with continued use, but even with one use my hair was very soft! My sample cost for this one is $1.00.
Marcelle Hydra-C 24H Energizing Hydrating Gel – $26.00 – This hydrating gel is absolutely amazing! I love how it feels as I put it on. It almost feels like I am putting water on my face, but it makes my skin feel so soft. I have oily skin and it didn’t make my skin feel more oily, which is a huge bonus. This is a little pricy, but at the same time, you don’t have to use a lot so a little bit goes a long way. For this one, my sample cost is $3.64.
Beauty Protector Protect & Oil – $28.00 – I was skeptical about this one because I have oily hair. I was afraid that this would just make my hair feel and look more oily. I was surprised! It made my hair smooth and soft without leaving it looking or feeling gross. It also has a great smell. My sample cost for this one is $1.75.
Overall this month my BirchBox was worth $15.65. Plus for reviewing the products I received 60 points (10 points for each product) which is $6 to spend in the BirchBox shop. That means my box was worth $21.65, but I only paid $9.17 for the box ($110 for a 1 year subscription). That’s 58% off! To me, that’s a great deal. I can’t wait to see just how much I save over the year. Just as a reminder:
- July 2016 –
- Total box worth: $30.69
- Paid for box: $9.17
- Percent off: 70%
- Totals for the year so far
- Total box worth: $52.34
- Total paid (yearly subscription): $110
I love my Birchbox and I am always amazed at the value of the boxes. I have a hard time understanding how they can afford to continue a subscription service like this. Either way, if you want to sign up, head over to BirchBox, or you can purchase any of these items by using the link provided.
